The Alvarado Library Board is an advisory board that:
- Encourages the development of public libraries.
- Advises the City Council on the planning and operation of the public library, its needs, and its progress.
- Develops and puts into operation the rules and regulations of the public library.
- Recommends to the City Council policies and programs for the advancement of public libraries in general and the Alvarado Public Library in specific.
- Reviews the annual budget for the library prior to submission of the budget to the City Council.
- Cooperates with all other public and private groups in advancing the best interest of the public library.
- Makes recommendations to the City Council for the appointment of members to the board.
